David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has described the impact of his song, ‘FEM,’ and how it landed him in trouble during the #EndSARS protest in 2020.

The Afrobeat singer said the song which became an anthem during the the protest was actually not recorded for the event.

Speaking in on the @TheDailyShow in New York with South African media personality, Trevor Noah, Davido said he actually released the song to address haters but was surprised at the impact in had on the #EndSARS movement.

He noted that it was amazing watching his song become an “instrument’ used to request for change, however, it got him into a lot of trouble prompting him to leave the country.

He told Trevor Noah that, “I got into a lot of trouble. I had to actually leave the country. It was bad.

“I was reposting everything that had to do with the campaign. It was amazing to see people come out like that.

“And I will say this: they listened to us. They heard us. They might not have changed anything but they were shook.

Davido told Trevor that the impact of the #EndSARS protest has woken up the younger generation of Nigerians whom he believes will actively participate in the next general elections.
