A bird, peregrine falcon is reported killed at Ofagbe, Delta State, Nigeria, while in transit from a Museum in Helsinki, Finland.
Reports say that it is a research bird owned by the University of Helsinki while many theories have been adduced to the bird’s demise.
Expectedly, locals maintain that it is an evil bird on a mission to wreck havoc:
@MobolajiOluseun “What a shame, I bet the poor thing was mistaken for evil spirit na everything be witchcraft in Nigeria.”
However, more forward looking theorists insist that research institutions often release birds to track their trajectory and migration patterns.
This peregrine falcon landed with a tag showing its origin and the purpose for its flight.
According to Kaylechi™ @Kaylechi_“This is a research bird owned by the University of Helsinki. Birds are often released by research institutes for study & experimental purposes hence the tag. Also, birds seen as “last of their kind” are also released for procreation & preservation. IT’S A RESEARCH BIRD!!”
Some youths see the discovery as an opportunity to get a visa to Finland. Reuben Erondu believes that presenting the tag at the embassy would earn anyone his dream escape from Nigeria.
Reuben Erondu@erondu_reuben· “Take the tag, go to Finland embassy and ask for a visa. Tell them you want to return the tag”
