David Adeleke, also known by his stage name as Davido has decried the very low value of Nigeria’s currency, the Naira
According him, he changed Naira to dollar at the rate of N500 to $1 and almost shed tears.
The latest parallel market value is the lowest the local currency has ever slid to.
The musician who never misses an occasion to display his wealth or speak about it felt sorry for the country in a tweet posted on Monday evening.
Davido is an American born Nigerian hip hop artiste and business man who has won multiple awards as a singer.
A man of means, it is obvious the latest value of the Naira is biting hard across the country.
Unfortunately, in spite of assurances by the Central Bank, the parallel market has continued to put pressure on the Naira as a result of growing scarce foreign exchange.
Over the weekend, Nigeria’s currency weakened to its lowest ever at N500/$1.
The CBN also officially devalued the Naira by N6 against the dollar over the weekend. This would be the third devaluation in 2020.
Meanwhile, the wife of the Kogi State Governor, sent an appreciation message to Davido for buying her children loads of gifts in Dubai, on Monday.
Mrs Rashida Yahaya Bello said her children are excited and grateful for the gifts.
Davido@davido responded that “I didn’t even know who they were .. I just did my thing.
“That’s crazy they were so humble”
