A terrorist who escaped from the Kuje correctional centre (Kuje prison) last week Tuesday has been arrested with hard drugs in his possession by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the Federal Capital Territory.

Last Tuesday scores of terrorists attacked the prison, and set free members of the Boko Haram / Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) alongside other inmates.

Suleiman Sidi who escaped from prison during the attack was arrested in the early hours of Monday in Abuja.

Sidi’s arrest comes after the Federal Government published the names and pictures of 64 terrorists, and declared them wanted.

The development was confirmed in a statement released by the spokesperson of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi.

According to Babafemi, Sidi was apprehended by operatives of NDLEA at the Area 1 motor park while attempting to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno State.

Wraps of Cannabis Sativa were seen on him upon search by operatives of the agency.

During preliminary interrogation, the escapee confirmed that he was detained at the Medium Security Correctional Centre in Kuje.

The terror suspect is facing charges bordering on terrorism and robbery.

The Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd) has directed his transfer to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
