NDLEA Interrogates Socialite Obi Cubana for Hours

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) yesterday, 13th of January interrogated popular socialite and Chairman, Cubana Group of Companies, Obi Iyiegbu.

Reports say that the billionaire businessman was grilled over his links to an illegal narcotic business.

Iyiegbu is said to have been grilled for not less than 5 hours at the Abuja headquarters of the NDLEA but was later released on bail.

The interrogation is alleged to be linked to suspicious payments made into Cubana’s account by 3 convicted drug dealers from Malaysia, India and Nigeria.

“Obi Cubana arrived the NDLEA office around 9:00am and responded to questions for some hours before he was granted bail at 2:00pm.

There are suspicions that he may be a drug kingpin. Some convicts drug dealers paid funds into his account.

“We have been able to establish three of such payments. One of the persons that paid money into his account was convicted in Kuala Lumpur, Malasia; another one Tht was convicted in New Delhi, India also paid money into his account while a third person that was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and convicted in 2017, also paid money into Cubana’s account,” a source said.

Cubana was allowed to go home to enable him return with some documents for another round of questions at a future date.

The spokesperson for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi declined comments on the development while an aide to the businessman, Chioma Nwachukwu also declined comments.
