A Nigerian female Army personnel, identified as Ruth Ogunleye, has maded allegations of s*xual harassment against three of her superiors.
According to her, the trio of Col. IB Abdulkareem, Col. GS Ogor, and Brig. Gen. IB Solebo have made life unbearable for her in the army.
She narrated how Col. Abdulkareem has particularly made things difficult for her in the force over her refusal to yield to his advances.
Ogunleye shared her ordeal in the hands of the said superior officers on the social media platform, TikTok, where she goes by the username, @Ogunleyeruthsavage1.
She alleged that Abdulkareem had repeatedly attempted to assault her, administered injections to her against her will, forcibly ejected her from her residence, and confined her in a psychiatric hospital for several months.
Ogunleye added that Abdulkareem has hindered her career advancement by denying her promotion courses.
According to her, she met Col. Abdulkareem in 2022 when she was posted to Cantonment Medical Centre, Ojo, where he asked her out but she refused. Since then, the officer became her nightmare in the Army, threatening to dismiss her every time, insisting that she possesses evidence of his atrocities against her.
She said, “I know definitely they will come for me. They will lock me up and they will dismiss me but I don’t care. I can’t endure it again. Before coming out to make this video, I couldn’t endure it again. I don’t want to die young.
Giving details of her ordeal, Ogunleye, who claimed that her effort to seek redress through a petition and asking the intervention of senior officers on her behalf have yielded no results, said in part:
“Each time I try to expose him or each time any senior officer tries to intervene, he also stigmatizes me, that I have a mental illness. He would always tell them that I had a mental illness.
“He wrote to DOA three times to board me out of the army. He froze my account for one year. He froze my account in February last year (2023) to date, no salary.
“There was a day he locked me, he almost raped me and when they caught him, he said I have mental illness and he took me to a psychiatric hospital and locked me up there for one month without any medication.”
The female soldier also narrated that when she got her father to intervene, Col. Abulkareem told her dad to tell her to obey the last order, which, according to her was for her to allow him to sleep with her.
