Nigerian Man Attempts to K!ll Guyanese President (photos)

A man believed to be a citizen of Nigeria, Bethl Chineze has been arrested for attempting to k!ll the Guyanese President, Irfaan Ali.

Chineze sustained a life-threatening injury when he found his way into the State House early on Thursday.

There are reports that Chineze is currently undergoing surgery at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Local news say that the suspect showed up at the State House (the official residence of President Ali and his family and confronted the Presidential guard in a hut.

Chineze was quoted to have said, “I want the President.”

He then went on to stab the presidential guard identified as Telon Perreira five times.

Police Headquarters, while reacting to the development, claimed that the suspect appeared agitated.

They added that a 9MM pistol and seven 9MM spent shells were retrieved from the suspect.

According to the Police, both the suspect and the presidential guard were rushed to the GPHC for medical attention.

Chineze having stabbed a presidential guard proceeded to disarm a female rank of her gun, walked out of the guard hut and started firing outside of the compound on Carmichael Street.

The attacker was, however, injured after the security detail returned fire. At the time of filing this report, the family of the President is safe and the State House has been cordoned off by security forces.
