Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has disclosed that universities in the country may not resume on the 18th of January as earlier planned.
He said that the Federal Government is reviewing the date in view of the rising cases of covid19 infections.
Adamu Adamu gave the update while fielding questions at Monday’s Presidential Task Force on #COVID19 press briefing.
According to him, “On the January 18 resumption date (for universities), we are reviewing it. We are going to review it.
“At the PTF meeting today, we considered it, and tomorrow, the ministry is going to take it up.”
The Federal Government had hinted a few days ago that it would impose a fresh lockdown if new cases of covid19 continue to rise.
National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on covid19, Sani Aliyu said this during another press briefing in Abuja.
He said that the current rise in new infections would likely leave the Federal Government with no choice than to lockdown.
