Veteran Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuọfia has reacted to viral claims that he turned down a N10 million endorsement offer by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The money is said to have been given him by the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Reports emerged on Monday that the actor said that N10 million cannot buy his endorsement for Tinubu as 2023 was critical to the collective good of all citizens and would never be sold.
This led to speculations that the veteran refused a N10m offer to endorse the APC presidential candidate.
Reacting to the many tweets that followed, the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, tweeted saying, “I have always known Nkem Owoh as a good actor, but didn’t even know he also has standard and integrity.”
However, when Sahara Reporters reached out to Osofia on Tuesday afternoon to confirm the rumours that he turned down the APC offer he said he had no interest in politics.
“I don’t want to confirm it, I am not interested in politics,” he told the publication.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Nkem Owoh’s colleague, Zack Orji vowed his unwavering loyalty and support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He stated that since he moved into Lagos over 40 years ago, the former Governor of the State never ceased to amaze him with his governance prowess and the way he transformed the state to what it is today.
Unfortunately for the actor, his wife, Ngozi publicly endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
According to DR.PENKING however, Nkem Owoh was first offered N5 million but he turned it down. The party increased the offer and still the actor rejected it.
Penking said: “Nollywood actor Nkem Owoh rejected 10million Naira offer to endorse Tinubu He was first first offered 5million Naira but he refused, and they decided to double it, he still refused. Nigerian youths, behold a man of integrity.“
“Imagine they gave somebody money, he rejected, they didn’t add 5%, they didn’t add 10%, they didn’t add 50%. They added 100%. He still rejected. Dear Nkem Owoh, before the end of this year, May you make more than 100 folds of that bad money you rejected.
“Notice how they are targeting igbo actors for endorsements. Zack Orji is Igbo from Enugu State. Nkem Owoh is Igbo from Udi in Enugu State .
“When it’s time to choose a Vice President, they go to Muslim Borno, when it’s time to pay chicken change that will finish in 1 month, they come down to Igbo and some foolish Igbo actors collect the chicken Change and sell their loyalty. A big shame.“
