The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has commended the South East Governors for their full compliance with the sit-at-home order.
He also hailed them for taking proactive measures and doing a number of memorable things to mark the day.
Kanu had ordered the sit-at-home to commemorate the day that Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu declared Biafra independence as well as those who were killed in the struggle.
In a live broadcast via FaceBook on Monday, Kanu applauded Governors Willie Obiano of Anambra State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi for observing the day to the letter.
He particularly applauded the Enugu State Governor for releasing members of the Zionist Biafra group locked in detention for many months as well as Obiano for building a cenotaph in memory of those who died fighting the Biafra course.
Also commended is what the IPOB leader called the courage of Governor Ikpeazu who announced on Sunday night, that Abia traders that do not wish to open shop by Monday, the day of the order were free to do so.
Equally commended is the decision of Umahi to rescind his initial threat to seize the shops of traders who locked up in compliance with the sit-at-home order.
Kanu added that, “Maybe they are beginning to repent but I don’t want to be quick in saying that they have repented until I am sure they have. If they have repented, that will be nice for us all.
He enjoined Ndigbo and every other tribe affiliated to them to remain united always.
