The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has declared its intention to field former Governor Musa Kwankwaso as its presidential candidate in the 2027 election. This announcement was made by the party’s chairman in Kano State, Hashimu Dungurawa, during an interactive session with journalists in Kano.
Dungurawa expressed his confidence in Kwankwaso’s ability to win the presidency, stating that he is the only person in the party with the necessary qualifications and experience to mount a successful challenge. “We believe Kwankwaso stands the best chance of becoming the next President,” he said.
The chairman also took the opportunity to criticize former Governor Umar Ganduje for his treatment of retirees, accusing him of abandoning them to poverty and destitution. He alleged that Ganduje’s government illegally deducted over N5.4 billion from retirees’ pensions during his eight years in office.
In contrast, Dungurawa praised the NNPP government’s achievements in education, agriculture, and work, commending Governor Abba Yusuf for his good work.
