The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has announced that there was no casualty from a salon car that was crushed by a 40ft container.
The agency reports that they found 4 occupants trapped in the Toyota Camry in the accident that occurred around 6:35pm on Sunday, at the Barracks area of Surulere, Lagos.
According to the spokesperson for the agency, Nosa Okunbor, 2 males and 2 females were rescued from the vehicle with registration number KRD 822 FX.
The LASEMA official said the trailer developed a mechanical fault resulting. This led to the accident that made the container to fall sideways crushing the salon car.
Giving a situation report at the time of the accident, the Director-General of LASEMA, Olufemi Oke Osanyintolu said that, “Upon arrival at the scene of the accident, a 40ft containerised truck fell sideways on a grey Toyota car.
“Four people were trapped inside the car. The quick response of the Agency’s response team culminated into the rescue of 2 people inside the car. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining 2 people trapped inside the car.
Mr Okunbor confirmed that the other 2 people were later rescued with the aid of the agency’s heavy duty equipment forklift aided with the efforts of officers of LASTMA, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police and FRSC.
According to him, “The 3rd and 4th victims have all been successfully recovered from inside the car alive and are presently being given Pr-Hospital care inside the ambulance.“
