The chief whip of the 9th Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu has urged everyone kicking against Tinubu’s likely choice of a Muslim-Muslim not to worry as the APC candidate’s wife is an ordained pastor.
Kalu said this on Wednesday while reacting to the controversial plan to field a Muslim as the running mate of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
There have been reactions across board over the choice of a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election.
Some Nigerians in their reaction have asked the electorate to ignore the religion of candidates but focus on their competence.
Christian Association of Nigeria, however, rejected the move by the ruling party to field a Muslim vice presidential candidate.
Kalu on his part, while addressing newsmen at the National Assembly on Wednesday called on the Christians not to feel threatened since Tinubu’s wife is a pastor.
The lawmaker said, “Let me tell you, in my house, my wife is the head of the house in reality. Even you men that are here, now that your wives aren’t here, they are the head. Like if I wear these clothes, my wife will tell me ‘My dear, these clothe is not good remove them’. Your wife will tell you you are supposed to eat Akara and Akamu, whether you argue with her, you must take that Akamu and your wife want you to pay children’s school fees, whether you argue or not, you must pay.
“The Christians should relax because Tinubu’s wife is a pastor and once she’s a pastor we are protected because she’s not a housewife. She has political knowledge.”
Tinubu’s wife, who currently represents Lagos Central Senatorial district, was ordained an Assistant Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 2018
