The remains of late Nollywood actor, Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, was on Friday, 18th August 2023, buried in his hometown, Alaenyi Ogwa, Imo State.
The actor died on Sunday, May 7, 2023, in the home of one of his siblings at 13 Metropolitan Street in Tudun Wada, Jos.
Videos shared by veteran actor, Andy Chukwu, captured the arrival of the deceased’s body with a group of his colleagues making an entrance into the venue.
The late actor’s burial is coming a week after many Nollywood stars stormed the candlelight service to pay respect to the late movie star.
Filmmaker, Zik Zulu Okafor in reaction to the death of the veteran actor, revealed the circumstances that led to his death in an article titled ‘Between Saint Obi’s Marriage and His Death’ where he alleged that the late actor’s marital crisis may have led to his demise.
The former president of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria noted in his article that Saint Obi’s stardom fetched him a “financially strong and powerful wife,” drawing him into a wedding that would “drastically alter the cause of his life.”
Saint Obi was always harassed by his wife’s siblings, and this eventually led to the end of the marriage.
Okafor disclosed that the actor became sick in mid-2022 following their divorce and his health deteriorated before he was taken to his sibling’s home in Jos.
