Nigeria’s movie industry has lost yet another member. Chizoba Boye is reported to have died on Monday morning from complications related to diabetes.
The 52-year old is also said to have been battling with high blood pressure, stroke and diabetes for some years. Colleagues say she died from an infected diabetic boil.
She was married to Sam Boye, a film maker and a star of M-net famed TV series, ‘Tinsel.’
Chizoba’s death was broken to her colleagues on their WhatsApp group platform Film4life by her colleague, Madu Chikwendu.
A strong advocate of Igbo language films, she stars in DSTV Igbo Channel comedy series, ‘Ka Anyi Is Ebi,’ Nigeria’s pioneer Igbo series set in modern day Lagos.
Chizoba will be remembered for her pioneering roles in Nollywood’s ‘Living in Bondage’ ‘Checkmate’ and ‘Scandals.’ Mrs Boye also co-starred with husband, Sam in ‘Tinsel’ where she played the role of Aunty Abike.
The Nollywood actress was, in addition, a presenter and producer.
News has it that Chizoba and Sam Boye recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary.
The Nollywood community has been paying tributes to the late actress.
