Veteran Nollywood stars, Ini Edo and Uche Jumbo have reacted to plans by film producer, 50 Cent to produce a movie based on the activities of jailed internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas (aka) Hushpuppi.
50 Cent on Wednesday, announced plans to release a television series inspired by Hushpuppi, who was jailed for 11 years in the U.S. for his role in the laundering of millions of dollars via online scams.
He wrote: “For my scammers I gotta do this one. Hushpuppi series coming soon! GLGGreenLightGang I don’t miss.”
The announcement has continued to attract mixed reactions. While some are in support of the plan, others feel it’s not the right thing to do.
Ini Edo welcomed the development but offered a piece of advice on the actors that should feature in the movie.
The actress sees it as a good initiative but wants the American to use Nigerian actors for the movie.
Taking to the comment section of the post, she wrote: “you’re welcome, Nigerian actors are your best bet.”
The advice aligns with the request from another Nollywood actress, Uche Jombo who had also via the comment section of the American star pleaded with him to ensure the role is given to a Nigerian actor.
She wrote: ”Please give a Nigeria actor the opportunity to play this character.”
