Bandits loyal to notorious leader in Zamfara State have stormed villages in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State kidnapping villagers and travellers.
The bandits are said to be retaliating a recent arrest of their leader’s father.
Reports say the attacks started on Friday and are still ongoing with not less than 150 persons already kidnapped.
The father of the bandits leader is said to have been kidnapped nearly 2 weeks ago with no news on his whereabouts.
Among the villages sacked on Friday by the bandits are: Kurya, Kwara, Keta, Badarawa, Marisuwa, Maberaya and a number of others.
Many travellers along the Gusau – Sokoto road were also kidnapped.
Reports say that the bandits’ leader vowed that if his father is not allowed to observe the upcoming Salah at home, he would ensure that many other people do not have the pleasure of doing so also.
An eyewitness at the meeting is quoted as saying that, “He was called on the phone during a meeting between the communities and the security agents and he faulted the basis of his father’s arrest, saying that he is the one that is a terrorist, with his location known, and saw no reason his father will be abducted.”
