An alleged notorious female fraudster identified as Fati Umar Dikko who operates within Kano Metropolis has been arrested by the State Police Command.
The suspected fraudster was nabbed after several complaints by her victims who said she sends them fake bank alerts after collecting their good.
Spokesperson for the Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said in a statement on Tuesday that, “on the 12/09.2021 at about 1830hrs, complaints were lodged by one Jamilu Musa, ‘m’, Aliyu Inusa, ‘m’ and Sadiya Muhammad, ‘f’ all of different addresses within Kano metropolis, that, between 11/09/2021 and 14/09/2021, on Fati Umar Dikko, ‘f’ of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Gwale LGA Kano, went to their shops located at various addresses in Kano and on different occasions, made some purchases.”
Among the items purchased are: 4 pieces of wrappers valued at N57,000; 3 pieces of lace materials and one handbag valued at N90,000 and 6 pieces of wrappers valued at N57,400 respectively.
The police spokesman revealed further that Dikko made credit alerts on the 3 occasions and left with the items.
He added that, “On receipt of the complaints, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, instructed a team of detectives led by SP Daniel Itse Amah to trace and arrest the culprit.
“The team swiftly swung in to action and following credible intelligence, arrested the suspect while trying to collect another material bought using fake alert.
“On preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed that she is specialised in showing fake alerts to her victims and confessed to the crime.
“After the arrest of the suspect, 4 more complaints surfaces; (i) Rita Rawland, (ii) Hausa Sani, (iii) Ramatu Isah, (iv) Hadiza Abdullahi, all of different addresses and stated that the suspect made purchased in their shops respectively as follows:
- One (1) food flask valued at N87,000
- Materials amounting to N232,000
- Wrappers of the sum of N78,000
- Lace material of the sum of N65,000 where she showed fake alerts to to them.”
The PPRO said that the alleged fraudster will be charged to court upon completions of investigation on the order of the the Commissioner of Police.
