NSIPA: ‘It’s Unprecedented in Nigeria that One Individual Would Steal N44 Billion in 4 Days’ – DG Authority Newspaper (video)

Chuks Akunna, a Nigerian journalist and the executive director of the Authority Newspaper, has stated that it is unprecedented in Nigeria for an individual to embezzle N44 billion in just four days.

This comes in response to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of the immediate suspension and investigation of Ms. Halima Shehu, accused of financial wrongdoing, as the National Coordinator and CEO of the National Social Investment Program Agency (NSIPA).

Speaking in an interview with the African Independence Television (AIT) News, Chuks Akunna noted that the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) remained silent on the issue of the ousted NSIPA CEO’s alleged financial mismanagement, with no discernible response.

According to him: “The interesting thing is that this N44B was allegedly stolen in four days, about ten billion everyday, you know from 27 of December, 31st, 44 billion. And then you know, it also comes to question the role of Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, because this is a statutory body invested with the responsible of tracking suspicious movement of cash.

“So, is it because of the head of the agency and the persons involved are from the same geopolitical zone? I mean these are questions to be answered because, it is very rare In Nigeria that a person, a single person would move N44B in four days and not even a whimper from NFIU”.
