Nyakim Gatweck, Queen of the Dark is been making waves since she appeared in a fashion show at St Cloud State University. She soon went on to multiple promotional posters for the 2017 film Jigsaw.
The highly pigmented Ethiopian is of South Sudanese decent. Despite not being born in South Sudan, she insists on sticking to her biological origin.
Just like her compatriot and International supermodel, Alek Wek, her parents fled the South Sudanese civil war to Gambela, Ethiopia, where Nyakim was born.
According to her, she has faced so many self esteem issues by the public and skin lightening companies who tried to bully her to lighten her skin.
She eventually became a model for international brands across the the world and is almost fully booked all year round. She is also reported to have made it to the Guinness Book of Records as the human with the blackest skin.
Despite the pressure, she remains unshaken and continues to soar in her beauty and modelling career. Most loved by over 763 thousand instagram followers and counting, she never fails to reassure those who make snide comments about her melanin pigmented skin that she could not have asked for a better complexion and anything but black a African origin.

Incidentally, one of Nyakim Gatwek’s nieces who is almost as dark skinned as she is is reported to be equally bullied for her skin tone.
Nyakim therefore made her a protege and mentors her to love what she is and the skin she is in. She says, in one of her favourites posts,
