The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, has warned corps members against traveling at night and boarding vehicles by the roadside.
General Ahmed advised corps members to serve as positive agents of development that would give succour to their host communities.
DG Ahmed gave the advice on Friday in his address to Corps Members at Anambra State Orientation Camp, Mbaukwu and Ebonyi State Orientation Camp in Afikpo.
He urged them to study the needs of their host communities, seek for support from the residents and initiate laudable projects that would improve the standards of living of their hosts.
The Director General also warned them against embarking on unauthorized and night journeys but added that they should obtain permission from the NYSC and their employers if it becomes mandatory for them to travel.
“Avoid night traveling because of its dangers. Don’t board vehicles by the roadside and ensure you go to designated motorparks to board vehicles while traveling,” he said.
He further enjoined the Corps Members to make long-lasting friends and relationships during the service year, adding that they should strive to bond together and foster national unity and integration, the reason for which the NYSC was founded.
He encouraged them to use the service year to plan for a better future and avoid every form of social delinquency that could jeopardize their future.
