OAU Students Embark on Foreign Trip to Germany (photos)

A group of students from the Department of Foreign Languages, German Unit,  Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Nigeria have embarked on an educational trip to Germany.

The students are traveling under the leadership of one of their German language lecturers, Dr. E. O. Olagunju,

The 14-day trip started on April 21st, with the students leaving Ile-Ife for Lagos. They spent the night in a hotel near the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos that night. On April 22nd, the group flew from Lagos to Frankfurt, Germany, with a stopover in Cairo, Egypt.

Upon arrival in Frankfurt, they took an ICE train to Freiburg, where the program commenced at the Freiburg University of Education, Germany from April 23rd to 27th.

On Friday, 26th of April, the students visited France and then transferred to the city of Jena on Saturday, 27th of April. Furthermore, they rested on Sunday after they visited Leipzig on the 28th of April. The second half of their program commenced at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena from 29th to 2nd of May when they are expected to return to Nigeria.

The trip will end on Thursday, 2nd of May, with the students departing Jena for Frankfurt and then returning to Lagos, Nigeria, with a stopover in Cairo.

The students are said to have a daily schedule in Germany which includes attending classes from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, with breaks for meals and shopping. The lectures are focused on German language and linguistics.

They also had the opportunity to meet with past OAU Foreign Languages students who are currently studying or working in Germany, including Johnson, Blessing, Michael, Adebola and Tolu.

This educational trip to Germany is expected to provide the students with valuable cultural and academic experiences, as they immerse themselves in the German educational system and explore the country’s rich history and culture.
