The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe has revealed how a phone call saved him from boarding the ill-fated Abuja-Kaduna train.
The train was attacked by alleged bandits terrorists who planted improvised explosive devises (IEDs) on its tracks on Monday, the 28th of March.
The incident left many passengers dead, many more injured and scores still to be accounted for.
Speaking on Saturday, 2nd of April, the Obi of Onitsha told Igbo leaders under the aegis of Ahamefuna Socio-cultural organisation who converged on Enugu, that he did not board the train because of a phone call inviting him to an emergency
He said: “I was among the passengers meant to be on the train last Monday because I had a meeting I was supposed to be attending. I was already at the train station when I got a call over an emergency and I had to leave the station to attend to it.”
Obi Nnaemeka Achebe decried the dangerous trend that Nigeria’s insecurity has taken.
