The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the just-concluded presidential election, Peter Obi, has sent a message of hope and love to the victims of electoral violence.
He gave the personal message on Thursday in Abuja as he commiserated with Nigerians who suffered attacks during the February 25 presidential election.
The LP flag bearer and LP chieftains at the event observed a one-minute silence for all injured and deceased victims of the election.
Obi thanked his youthful followers known as ‘Obidients’ for their massive support and urged them not to be deterred by the outcome of the polls.
Peter Obi announced after the meeting that, “I have just finished addressing an international press conference. I urge Nigerians to remain resolute. We won this election and we will prove it to Nigerians. We shall reclaim our mandate via due process. Please do not despair! -PO”
He, however, said a new Nigeria is possible and promised to challenge the “electoral rascality”, saying that it is a shame that Nigeria cannot conduct free and fair elections 63 years after independence.
Present at the conference were the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure; the Director General of the Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Akin Osuntokun, and other party chieftains.
Youths, most of whom heard about the conference converged on the Hilton Hotel in solidarity.
