Debo Adebayo popularly known as Mr Macaroni has revealed that the police officers who arrested him and other protesters said that they would have been killed had the protest taken place at night.

Giving worrisome details of his arrest and bail from police custody, he said the police first took them to the Adeniji Adele police station where they were thoroughly beaten and stripped naked.

According to him, the security agents don’t care about human lives. They told the protesters that “If the word was not out that people were already being arrested, people would have died. They were telling us that ‘we will shoot you and nothing will happen. If it was night, all of una for don die.’

He added that at “Adeniji we were beaten and stripped naked. Everyone was beaten.

“These people don’t care about anyone. Them beat me, saying I’ll get sense by force. They also destroyed my phone.”

Mr Macaroni said that the torture and continued clampdown will not stop him from speaking out about the ills in governance.

“We’re in serious sh*t but its not to silence our voices. They cannot continue to oppress. Those of us that have the voice will continue to talk.”

Adebayo lamented that, “Have we gotten justice for what happened last year ? Is opening the tollgate the next line of action ?’

Atiku Abubakar

Mr Macaroni also regretted claims that he collected money from Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice-president and presidential candidate in the 2019 elections.

“I don’t believe in curses. But for anyone saying I collected money from Atiku or whoever, it is, that’s their business in the first place.

“If I didn’t collect money from anybody, you will not make it for the rest of your life. Your children will suffer.

“I know some believe that. But those that know me understand that I have been speaking for myself and people around me right from secondary school days,” Mr Macaroni said.

The comedian revealed this this afternoon in an Instagram video post 24 hours after he was leased alongside other detainees.

Still looking shaken and with bags under his eyes, the pains of what he went through and his wishes for Nigeria were apparent.
