Ohaneze Youth Council Joins Arewa Youths to Call for Ban of BBnaija

The Ohaneze Youth Council (OYC) has called on the Federal Government to ban the the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality TV show.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the National President of the OYC, Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka described the show as a semi packaged porn and social monster.

He told The Nation that BBNaija is affecting families across the country more so as youths of the nation have lost social values and norms and the show teaches no useful values.

According to Igboayaka, “With the high rate of lack of moral values among teenagers in Nigeria, BBNaija is a social monster that has come to ruin the lives of Nigerian youths, mostly the teenagers who are easily carried away by social trends.

“Majority of Nigerian youths are not mentally mature to be participating or watching such semi-packaged porn programs that add or proffer zero solution to the social problems confronting our youths.

The Ohaneze Youth Council called on the Federal Government to create a more reasonable and youth friendly program to promote value system, norms as well as intellectual formation.

Igboayaka said that, “BBnaija does not represent any ethnic cultural status in Nigerian nor does it appeal to any religious status domiciled in Nigeria.

Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), speaking through its President, Yerima Shettima, had described the show as one that promotes immorality and sexual content. it called for its prohibition.
