Not less than 15 students of Babsfafunwa Millennium Senior and Junior Secondary Schools in the Ojodu area of Lagos are reported killed by a trailer moving at top speed.
An eyewitness told newsmen that the driver of the trailer was moving at breakneck speed to avoid being arrested by a combined team of officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The coordinated vehicle is said to have rammed into the large number of students who were walking on one side of Ogunnusi Road (old Isheri Road) where the team of LASTMA, FRSC and the school children were.
It crushed at least 15, injuring many others.
Reports also say that 4 schools are located within the same compound.
An irate mob of students are reported to have destroyed several trailers plying the road in protest against the killing of their colleagues.
Policemen had a hard time controlling the students and had to expend teargas to disperse them.
Many parents were also seen rushing to the scene of the accident, wailing and trying frantically to locate their wards.
A heartbroken mother who had not seen her children told newsmen that, “I have not seen my three children. They went to school since morning and are not yet back.
“Oh God, let what I am thinking not befall me.”
Corpses of the those killed have been evacuated while the injured have been rused to the hospital.
