News - Women's Perspective

Labour Party (LP) Chieftain, Doyin Okupe, has reacted to news of his replacement as the Director-General (DG) of the Obi-Datti presidential campaign council (PCC).

A former presidential aide to Olusegun Obasanjo, Akin Osuntokun, was named the new DG of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.

Okupe resigned on his own accord last week after he was convicted by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of a Federal High Court in Abuja on December 19, 2022, for violating the Money Laundering Act.

The court said Okupe was guilty of receiving over N200 million cash from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.

The court held that Okupe was guilty in counts 34, 35, 36, and 59 and sentenced him to two years imprisonment with an option of a fine.

In a post shared on Twitter, Doyin Okupe seemed delighted over the appointment of Akin Osuntokun as the new DG.

Doyin stated that Oshuntokun has been a committed as well as a foundation member of the Peter Obi presidential ambition.

He wrote: “I received the news of the appointment of my brother bossom friend, strong ally & confidant, Prof Akin Oshuntokun,as the new DG of the LP Obi-Baba Ahmed campaign organisation. Oshuntokun has been a committed & foundation member of this great movement frm d start.I wish him well.”
