There is confusion at deposit money banks as customers are reluctant to collect old notes while bank cashiers insist on issuing a mix of old and new notes.
A particular bank customer rejected the old notes offered by a commercial bank after the cashier explained the rigours involved in returning them.
According to the bank customer identified simply as Ola, individuals with old notes have to register with the Central Bank of Nigeria before they can be returned to Banks.
Last week, the Supreme Court extended the validity of all old notes till December 31, 2023.
Some banks have subsequently began paying their customers with old notes.
Meanwhile, the apex bank has not issued any directive to banks to comply with the Supreme Court judgment.
