Olori Naomi Silekunola, the former wife of Oba Enitan Adeyeye, the Ooni of Ife has been charged with m*rder over a recent d3adly stampede.

The incident, which occurred on December 18, 2024, at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, claimed the lives of around 35 people.

The public has since demanded accountability and questioned event safety and legal practices.

Court documents alleged that the accused, along with Fasasi Abdullahi Babatunde and others still at large, conspired to commit a felony described as “acceleration of death,” violating Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

This case has sparked widespread discussions about the legal implications and potential misuse of authority.

Olori Naomi’s sister, Simi Silekunola, voiced her frustration on Instagram, questioning the charges.

“I need lawyers to educate me on why my sister was charged for m*rder. Okay, she has been brought before the law, why is she being charged for m*rder???? This is the question I have been asking since yesterday,” she wrote.

Simi further suggested that external influences may be at play, adding, “Since the day she was detained, the answer has been ‘order from above.’ Who is the order from above? If you have a personal vendetta with my sister, come out in the open; don’t go through corners.”

A Chief Magistrate Court in Ibadan recently ordered the remand of three people linked to the Ibadan stampede.
