Journalist Kemi Olunloyo has revealed the reason Queen Naomi, wife of the Ooni of Ife opted to walk out of her marriage.
The Queen had earlier in the day announced that she was done enduring her union with the monarch.
She stated that “at this moment, I announce that I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife but as the Queen of the people and mother of my adorable Prince.”
She also added that the Ooni was often distracted by other women but that had nothing to do with her decision.
Prophetess Naomi said that she was also not leaving because the King married another wife as is being speculated, neither was her marriage arranged.
According to her, “Let it be known that this decision to move on did not come because his majesty is married to another queen. As many would love to assume, throughout our life as a couple, I was the only married wife to him. There were side attractions, but it was never an issue.
“I never approached him with any revelation of any sort, as many believed he contacted me first and made his proposal known several months later.“
Nonetheless, in October, there were unconfirmed reports that His Imperial Majesty had officially married a new queen identified as Folashade Ashely, a princess of one of the Ife ruling houses.
Images and videos of the dazzling princess continued to trend with no official statement on the development.
Following the announcement by Queen Naomi on Thursday, Kemi Olunloye revealed that the Olori was not ready for polygamy. She stated that the Ife Kingdom can only thrive on that.
She added that it is only expected that a Yoruba monarch marries several wives and cited the example of the Alaafin of Oyo, her own king.
According to Journalist Dr Kemi Olunloyo, “My king Alaafin of Oyo empire has plenty of wives, old and young, triplets and twins in the palace.
“The Ife oracle has predicted that Enitan cannot survive with one wife. He must have multiple wives. The divorced queens cannot stand that. Wake up people and don’t tell me Yoruba history. Ife was part of Oyo state. I personally don’t recognize Osun.
“Olori Afolashade Ashley and is an entrepreneur and an accountant. The new queen runs a non-profit organization known as Ashley Adegoke Foundation. There is no such nonsense as monogamy in the palace. That’s the scam part of marriage.
“Wanna marry a King, get ready for other queens. Go explore the lives of Sijuwade and Aderemi mornachy in Ife. Enitan also had a daughter at 19yo with a baby mama.
“He is a King and must have many wives.“
Ashely is said to be a single mother of one child.
