Omotola Jalade Ekeinde celebrates 25 years as an actress this week.
She made the silver jubilee announcement on her social media handles. According to her,

A former model before venturing into acting, Omotola is a philanthropist. She became become a UN World Food Programme ambassador going on missions to Sierra Leone and Liberia in 2005. She is, in addition, an Amnesty International Activist.
Omotola is one of the pioneers of the video film era of the Nigerian cinemas and became the most watched actress in Africa in 2013. In the same year, she was honoured by time magazine as one of the most influential people in the world alongside Michell Obama, Beyonce and Kate Middleton.
She is the first African celebrity to amass over 1 million likes on her Facebook page and currently has over 4.7 million Instagram followers.
Her acting career began when she accompanied a friend to an audition in Lagos. She was later discovered by Reginald Ebere, a film director.
Her first project with Ebere was in 1995 in the movie, Venom of Justice. Venom of Justice was adjudged a huge success following which she went full scale into acting and gladly celebrates 25 years as an actress this week.
Jalade Ekeinde is a graduate of Estate management from the Yaba College of Technology.
She was honoured by the Nigerian government in 2014 with the prestigious Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) for her contributions to the film industry.
Born February 7, 1978, Omotola is married to Captain Matthew Ekeinde and has 4 children with him.
