At least one person is feared d&ad following a clash between some security operatives and members of the ruling houses at the palace of the Akinrun of Ikirun in Osun State on Wednesday.

The deceased is identified as Lukuman Omoola, a prince who is alleged to have been shot as security operatives attempted to forcefully open the palace.

Reports from the Ikirun community, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State reveal that part of the palace was razed by fire as the obaship tussle in the area took another dimension.

Insiders say the crisis was caused by the recent appointment of Oba Yinusa Akadiri as the new monarch by the Osun State Government.

The reports add that Akadiri’s appointment as the Akinrun by the Osun State Government did not have the support of the majority of the town’s people including chiefs and the head of kingmakers.

Sadly, when the new Oba allegedly led other persons to the town to gain access to the palace, access was denied him by aggrieved members of other ruling houses.
