A report monitored in Thisday newspaper online has said that political watchers and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are closely monitoring the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, to know if he will accept his ministerial nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or not.
This stems from his previous negative comments against the All Progressives Congress, APC. An old video recently surfaced where he vowed never to decamp to the party describing it as one plagued with cancer. He added that the APC destroyed Nigeria and he would have nothing whatsoever to do with it.
The video:
Having lost his presidential primary election ticket in a dramatic manner when he was well poised to win, he worked with the other G-5 allies to take the presidency to the South irrespective of political party.
In what seems like compensation for his assistance, the APC-led government nominated him for a ministerial position.
A PDP source, who spoke under conditions of anonymity on this recent development said that, Wike will defect to the All Progressives Congress and the remaining four members of the G-5 are also planning to defect with him but just one thing is keeping them back, which is the fact that they suspect the presidential election might be annulled by the Tribunal.
According to the source, “We are aware of the plots by members of the Integrity Group. We know the G-5 wants to defect to the APC, but only one thing is keeping them from doing it now. They are bidding their time, because they are aware that the presidential election could be annulled. Therefore, they want to see how things will go before the Integrity Group finally joins Wike in All Progressives Congress.“
