Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace has revealed when the detained leader of the proscribed Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be released.

Kanu is currently facing an 11-count charge of terrorism, illegal posession of firearms, treasonable felony among other charges.

He was arrested in 2015 and released on bail but jumped bail and fled to the UK in 2017.

He was re-arrested on the 27th of June, 2021 while on a trip to Kenya and immediately extradited to Nigeria to continue the charges brought against him.

Allen Onyema expressed optimism that the Buhari-led administration will release the IPOB leader “very soon.”

Speaking at an event in Lagos over the weekend, the Air Peace boss said that President Muhammadu Buhari is not against the Igbos as speculated by IPOB and some people in the South East.

He however, advised Ndigbo to approach the number 1 citizen with wisdom in order to get the needed responses to their agitations.

According him, “This President, President Muhammadu Buhari, quote me, I say it again, he is not against Ndigbo. If you approach him the right way, he will listen.

“President Muhammadu Buhari will one day release our brother (Nnamdi Kanu).

“Myself, I don’t know him (President Buhari). But I have put forward certain requests, and he honoured them. He honoured my request(s).”
