Late Osinachi’s mother has narrated her late daughter’s ordeal in the hands of her husband, Peter Nwachukwu.
The elderly mother said that Peter made life unbearable for the late singer and vowed she could only leave their marriage in death.
Osinachi’s mother, in a lengthy video disclosed the ordeal in a chat with BBC Igbo, where she narrated the level of maltreatment, her daughter and family endured from Peter Nwachukwu
She said that it got so bad to the point where she had to arrange for her daughter to leave the marriage, but the gospel singer later returned on her own volition, to her husband after 15 months.
Osinachi’s mother said despite the fact that Peter was jobless, and lived on her daughter’s wealth, he constantly beat and verbally assaulted her
She added that when the deceased’s singer’s younger brother tried to intervene, Peter stopped him from visiting his home and family.
She added that when she died Peter did not let the family know, saying that they heard about her death from outsiders.
The grieving mother said that before her death, Osinachi refused to open up about her ordeal, until the neighbours called pleading with the family to act decisively before they lose her.
She maintained that Peter’s maltreatment of her daughter was unbearable, he threatened countlessly to snuff the life out of her, adding that whenever they pulled Osinachi out of that marriage, Peter would come pleading for her return, but she always refused, but Osinachi insisted she would go back as she believed divorce was unscriptural.
Osinachi, who rose very rapidly in the gospel music industry, especially after her hit song, ‘Ekwueme,’ died at an Abuja hospital on Friday as a result of the internal injuries she received from the domestic violence.
Josephine Adeh, the FCT command’s spokesperson confirmed that Peter Nwachukwu has been arrested and is in their custody.
