Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo will hopefully declare his presidential ambition for 2023 on Saturday, April 9.
According to a Thursday publication on Daily Post, “Barring any last minute change, the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, will on Saturday, disclose his position on the 2023 presidential election.
“A top presidency source told DAILY POST that Osinbajo feels it’s the right time to address the 2023 issue with regard to his ambition, considering the fact that the election is close.“
It is however, not certain if Osinbajo will declare to contest against his mentor, supposed godfather and National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu was one of the very first political aspirants to publicly declare his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election. He was also the first to brief the President about it.
On his part, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo continues to deny any 2023 presidential ambition. His position was also reiterated by top aide, Laolu Akande.
Several groups and individuals in the country continue to call on Osinbajo to run for the presidency in the 2023 elections.
According to Akande, “The VP continues focusing all his attention on the work of this administration and on supporting Mr President in every possible way. Please continue to ignore the speculations.”
