Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has given insights into the protest he led to the INEC headquarters today.

He vowed that the party will continue its protest on a daily basis for a long time.

Atiku, who spoke while leading the party on a protest march on the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said the exercise will however not stop them from going to court to challenge the outcome of the presidential election.

The party also presented a letter of protest to the Commission.

It was received by the National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Barrister Festus Okoye.

Atiku led other leaders of the party to protest outcome of the presidential election won by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The electoral umpire declared Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of APC as the winner of the election with 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku who scored  6,984,520 votes while Peter Obi of Labour party who polled 6,101,533 votes.

But the PDP and their counterparts in Labour Party have accused INEC of compromise and described 2023  as the worst election Nigeria ever witnessed since the return of democracy in 1999.

He said: “We are protesting and we have every right to protest. It doesn’t stop us from going to court, the fact that we are protesting. We will protest for a very long time. Either everyday or every other day.”

Others who were part of the protest are the chairman of the PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu:  former National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus; Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal; former Senate President Bukola Saraki; Kola Ologbondiyan, Daniel Bwacha, Senator Dino Melaye, among others.

An Obedient, Save  4PeterObi @anythingcyberNG wonders what could happen” if @PeterObi should call for a protest, Nigeria will shutdown that day. Peter Obi is the only reason people are not on the street to challenge the many crimes of @OfficialAPCNg and INEC against the will of the people.”
