Panic after Prison Guard Killed Visitor with Cocaine in Delta

There is panic in Warri, Delta State after an armed security operative killed a man who had come to visit his friend.

The incident which was reported by SaharaReporters states that the young man had taken tomatoes and other food items to his friend at the Okere Correctional centre.

Among the items in the visitor’s possession was cocaine following which he was interrogated. The visitor was then shot dead as he made to escape.

The incident caused residents to group out to the prison premises to protest the killing.

A prison source told SaharaReporters on Tuesday that “There is panic in Okere prison in Warri as a Prison Armed Squad shot dead a visitor this afternoon. The visitor was said to have come to visit his friend when the incident happened.

“With what visitors witnessed outside, the person came with tomatoes and some food items. And in the course of conducting their usual routine search on him, they discovered cocain in the items. The visitor was thereafter subjected to further interrogation.”

“But when he discovered that trouble loomed, he started running. One of the prison’s armed squad members present shot him in the leg. But while he was still crawling, he shot him a second time and that killed him instantly.”
