There is palpable panic in the Military as 18 Army Generals have tested positive for Coronavirus.
Reports say that the Army Generals had close interactions with Late Major General Irefin who died from complications arsing from the dreaded disease last week.
All affected officers attended the 2020 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.
Another likely source of the mass infections is traced to the private visit of late General Irefin in their various homes.
The National Centre for Disease Control has as a result, directed all the officers, their wives and their entire households to go into self isolation.
The affected military officers were mostly those who travelled from outside Abuja. They have all been tested by officials of NCDC.
As of today, those resident in Abuja have not been tested for the virus.
Reports also add that the Army Resource Centre, venue of the conference has, over the weekend, been decontaminated by officials of the Ministry of Health.
The late Army GOC 6th Division, Major General J O Irefin took ill at the Chief of Army Staff Conference last week.
He was taken to the hospital where he tested positive for the killer disease and died while undergoing treatment.
Irefin was the Army GOC 6th Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt.
