A trending video that captured the moment an American pastor, Bishop Lamor Miller-Whitehead and members of his congregation were robbed of about $400,000 in jewelry and cash during a livestreamed church service on Sunday has emerged.
In the video, Pastor Whitehead was speaking at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie, Brooklyn, when the robbers invaded his church auditorium.
Speaking on his social media pages afterwards, the cleric said, “I didn’t know if they wanted to shoot the church up or if they were just coming for a robbery.
The Pastor said that as a shepherd, he needed to lead by example. The moment he saw about 3 or 4 masked men, he knew they were coming for him and his wife.
He then asked everyone to go down on the floor as he went down himself.
Whitehead added that they came for him and took his jewellery as well as that of his wife and after the robbery he went after them.
He noticed they changed their clothes in their Mercedes Benz car before driving off but he also went after them in his own car.
Addressing the comments on him having expensive jewelry, he said, “A lot of people are going to say, ‘Why are you so flashy?’ It’s my prerogative to purchase what I want to purchase if I work hard for it.”
