Pastor Tunde Bakare donates his church facilities, The Latter Rain Assembly at Akilo Road, Ogba to the Lagos State Government as an isolation centre for covid19 cases.
He also gave up his private residence at Abeaokuta for the same course.
The Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, now Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC) says that the church’s Medical Missions will onboard Lagos State Government Officials.
According to him, the collaboration will ensure the best utilisation of the church auditorium. It will also reduce the pressure on current government isolation centres. This more so as the state continues to record increasing numbers of new cases of the dreaded coronavirus.
Pastor Bakare also commends everyone in the frontline of the fight against the disease.
In a message monitored from him yesterday, the cleric said that he “commends the Lagos State Government and well meaning individuals and corporate bodies for their efforts at controlling the spread of this pandemic in Lagos and by extension, Nigeria.
“We pray for divine health, wisdom and energy for the leadership of Lagos State and frontline healthcare workers.”
As Pastor Tunde Bakare donates church premises to help combat the coronavirus scourge, several other Nigerian pastors have given different opinions on how best to fight the rising cases of covid19 in the country.
The Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo believes that churches should be around to reopen and hold services.
On his part, Apostle Johnson Suleman proposes to government to allow pastors access isolation centres to perform miracles on ailing people.
Poju Oyemade believes that healing and miracles do not necessarily need to be performed within a physical church building. He cited the Acts of the Apostles in the bible where Jesus performed miracles on the streets, the fields and even people’s homes.
Oyemade’s stance corroborates Bakare’s who believes that “there is no distance in the spirit…lockdown or no lockdown, church is not a building but the body of Christ. If we cannot congregate because of the lockdown, we can be very effective as our brother’s keeper…”
