The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains, this afternoon, honoured the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Ibrahim Attahiru who died in a plane crash on Friday at the Kaduna International Airport.
Governor Wike called for a 1-minute silence in his honour. His action has attracted the admiration of
Ndjideka@omogehrh·Replying to @PDP_2023 “PDP behaves with sense of decorum, even when they are doing bad. It’s decorum with badness. Observing 1min silence for the opposition’s appointee cos we are all human anyway. My respect to @GovWike. My respect to @PDP_2023“
On the other hand, PDP Chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode has berated Buhari for not attending the burial while at the same time regretting the errors made by his representative, the Minister of Defence who made a speech. at the ceremony.
According to Femi Fani-Kayode@realFFK· “First our President refuses to attend the COAS’ burial even though he was in Abuja. The Minister of Defence was there & instead of talking sense he said he had “come to express” his “HEARTLESS felt condolences”. Talking about a Freudian slip!!! How much worse can this show get!”
Femi Fani-Kayode@realFFK· “There can be no justification for the President & Vice President’s refusal to attend the funeral of the late COAS. He was buried in Abuja just 10 minutes away from the Villa & yet the C in C or his deputy could not attend? This is insensitive & unacceptable. He was your COAS!“
Civil rights activist Deji Adenyaju also bared his mind. According to Comrade Deji Adeyanju@adeyanjudeji· “Your COAS died in the line of duty but you couldn’t attend his burial. It’s not like the man went on a voyage or frolic of his own. These Generals & officers died serving the country. Na wa ooo. I’m just speechless for Buhari & his people.”
The President sent his condolences through his social media handles. According to him, he is saddened by the death of the COAS describing it as “a mortal blow to our underbelly.”
According to him, “Muhammadu Buhari@MBuhari “Deeply saddened by the air crash that claimed the lives of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and other military officers. All of them are heroes who paid the ultimate price for peace and security in the land.“
“This crash is one mortal blow to our underbelly, at a time our Armed Forces are poised to end the security challenges facing the country. My condolences to the families of the deceased, the entire military, and all Nigerians. The deaths of these officers will not be in vain!”
