Reports say the President of Peru has resigned following the death of two protesters.
Manuel Merino was the former Speaker of Congress and had only held the post for less than one week.
He had replaced President Martin Vizcarra was was impeached over allegations of bribery which he denied
His resignation was instigated by politicians who were unhappy with the violent crackdown on street protests against him.
His resignation comes five days after the protests began. At least, 12 of the country’s ministers are also said to have quit on Sunday in protest against his handling of the protests..
Some Nigeria’s youths however, have taken to creativity to express their own grievances, having been met with high-handed resistance during the October #EndSARS protests.
A number of other youths have described the setbacks the sudden clamp down has caused them.
They also sent in their regrets about the outcome of Nigeria’s peaceful protest.
The Regrets:
Victor Babatunde@vhic_tore· “Today makes it one month since CBN freezed my account for participating in a peaceful #EndSARS protest.
“Surviving gets harder as days go by, I’ve missed entries for international exams, resorted to depending on my parents and done all sorts for survival and nothing has been done.
Victor Babatunde@vhic_tore· “Everyone’s been talking bout suing and all sorts but how do we do that without resources and funds? Some agencies and individuals tried to help but nothing concrete has been set up yet, It’s safe to assume we’re on our own right now. 30 days gone, 60 to go. E go be!!!”
Ayemojubar @ayemojubar draws everyone’s attention to the fact that the military did not get involved before the President of Peru resigned.
According to her,
“I’m not sure the military got involved in Peru protest. It’s obvious they didn’t because what would have happened is a mega genocide just like we had in Nigeria, #LekkiMassacre. Those guys have no souls.”
The youth also regret that their accounts were frozen while a senior government official whose account is fingered for questioning walks free.
