Popular Nigerian Singer, Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, better known by his stage name as Peruzzi denies rape claims in a statement released via several tweets today, 4th June.
Peruzzi had previously been accused of rape on 2 different occasions by 2 different women. Daffy Blanco, a UK-based singer once claimed that the singer tried to rape her while another lady simply identified as princess accused him of raping her about 8 years ago.
Incidentally, Peruzzi had also declared himself a rapist at that time and posted tweets openly supporting the act.
In a series of tweets today however, he apologised unreservedly for his posts and insisted he has never raped anyone.
According to him, he was naive at the time he posted those tweets.
His statement denying rape claims:
“MY NAME IS OKOH TOBECHUKWU, I HAVE NEVER AND WILL NEVER BE A RAPIST.
“The claim is false and has also been refuted by a witness who was present at the time of the allegation. Rape is a heinous and cowardly act, which I do not condone. I’m ashamed and deeply apologetic for a series of tweets posted on social media 8 years ago.
“I sympathise & stand with all victims and survivors of rape. I do not take your trauma lightly. My heart goes out to the families of Uwazila, Ada, Farishina, and all other survivors who have courageously spoken about their abuse in recent times, may the Almighty heal your hearts.
“It is my earnest prayer that the perpetrators be brought to book. Once again, I sincerely apologise for those tweets, containing really stupid and insensitive statements; I take full responsibility, as I should have known better.
