The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has been honoured in the United States (US) with the honorary citizenship of Dallas Texas.
Obi was on Tuesday conferred with the conferred with the privilege in the United States by the Mayor of Dallas, Eric Johnson.
He revealed the conferment through his verified Twitter handle.
@PeterObi Tweeted: “It is my pleasure to be here in Dallas, Texas, I wish to express my immense gratitude to the members of the Local Organizing Committee, especially Dr. Charles U. Maduka, whose personal persistence compelled my return to Texas after three weeks.

“Today in Dallas Texas, United States, I met with the Mayor of Dallas and his team.
“I had the privilege of being conferred with the honorary citizenship of Dallas.”
The mayor’s team, Johnson, affirmed that Obi, having been conferred with the honorary citizenship, shall uphold a place of high esteem in the minds of the people of Dallas city.
The said, “Without a piece of doubt, with this conferment, you shall uphold a place of high esteem in the minds and hearts of the people of this great city (Dallas). Congratulations!” he said.
While conferring the citizenship, Mayor Eric Johnson stated that, “Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming The Honorable Peter Obi — the former Governor of Anambra, Nigeria — to Dallas City Hall. I proclaimed him to be an Honorary Citizen of Dallas, and I look forward to welcoming him back to our city in the years to come.”
