Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, has rebuffed reports by the USA chapter of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) that he is sponsoring protest against the result of the February 25 presidential election at the Park opposite the US White House.
Professor Tai Balofin, the USA APC Chairman made the allegation against the former Governor accusing him of sponsoring protests against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-elect.
According to Balofin, Bola Tinubu won the free and fair 2023 presidential election.
Reacting to the accusation, Yunusa Tanko, the Spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, stated that his principal is no way connected to the protest, adding that he has urged his supporters to remain calm while he reclaims his mandate through court process.
He stated this while speaking in a telephone interview with The Vanguard.
He said, “Obi has not sponsored anybody to do anything, rather he has urged them to be calm and follow the rule of law. However, if Nigerian people are protesting the injury done to them, they have the right. Nobody is sponsoring anybody.“
