The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang has announced that the price of petrol will crash soon.
He told newsmen over the weekend that the presidency has taken drastic steps to to reduce the pump price.
Speaking at the Correspondents’ Arena in Uyo, Enang said that the Federal Government has concluded plans to host a National Conference on Artisanal and Modular Refining.
According to him, this is aimed at integrating local refiners into the mainstream refining in Nigeria.
Enang said that the government has consented to partnering with those in the creeks with a view to legalising their refining businesses.
He added that the National Conference scheduled for the 15th – 17th of March 2021 is a response to the amnesty extended to the Federal Government by former illegal refiners.
In his words, Ita Enang said that, “We need to agree with those in the creeks on how to legalise their business because of the danger the current practice is posing to the environment and the economy of the country.
“Therefore, the Federal Government will on March 15th – 17th hold a National Conference on Artisanal and Modular Refining to integrate local refiners into the mainstream refining in Nigeria.”
