Pastor Polycarp Zongo of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) located in the Wild Life Park, Jos, Plateau State, who was kidnapped by the Islamic State West Africa has regained freedom.
The process of securing his release is still not known but the COCIN congregation broke into jubilation the moment news filtered in about his release.
He was abducted seven months ago by ISWAP in Gombe State.
He is said to be one of several humanitarian workers and civilians released by the terrorist group on Monday in Maiduguri, Borno State.
They were kidnapped on the 19th of October 2020.
Pastor Zongo narrated his ordeal in captivity on Tuesday during a prayer session at his church in Garki, Abuja.
Two weeks after he was abducted alongside two unarmed women, on their way from Jos to Gombe for a conference a video emerged with him speaking about the incident.
In an appeal during the video recording to his state Governor, Simon Lalong, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) among others, Polycarp Zongo said that, “On Monday, 19 October 2020, I was travelling to Gombe for a church conference when we encountered the caliphate’s armed men who captured me along the way, right now, I am with them.”
