Some police officers have been caught on camera assaulting an unarmed passenger who is said to be a student.
Reports say that the 4 police officers forced travellers in a commercial bus to alight, zeroed in on the student and forced him to take them to an ATM.
One of the passengers discretely took video shots of the incident and said one of the officers whom he named as Ogun Godwin was in uniform as they escorted the young to withdraw the cash.
According to the passenger the officer threatened to shed blood if they did not cooperate. He then dished the student several slaps and dared the other travellers who tried to intervene.
Investigations say the security operatives are attached to Adogo Division and were on patrol along Adogo-Okene road where they carried out the outrageous act.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State, CP Idriss Dauda Dabban, on Sunday, issued a statement through the Public Relations Officer, DSP William Ovye Aya.
He condemned the action of the police officers and said they have been detained at the State CID.
According to Aya, “The officers according to Aya are: ASP Isah Barnabas, Inspector Ifediegwu Godwin, Sgt Emmanuel Ochima and CPL Umameh Matthias.
“He said The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) has been issued an official query while the three (3) other junior officers are currently undergoing orderly room trial (Police internal disciplinary actions).
